On the initiative of volunteers organised by https://russol.info, the CERN online introductory lectures on quantum computing have been translated* into Russian. The first-ever translation of the CERN course targets the Russian-speaking audience and is now publicly available via: russol.info/quantum. The website contains 14 hours of video lectures with Russian subtitles, full transcripts, illustrated abstracts and summaries for each lecture. There will also be dedicated audio tracks coming out soon.

The translated version of the course has been already provided to the students at regional technical universities in Moscow, Voronezh, Astrakhan, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, in Russia, and there are ongoing discussions to circulate the lectures in the universities of Belarus and Ukraine.

Access to the videos is free of charge, and there is no previous knowledge of quantum physics required to follow the course.

The CERN online introductory lectures on quantum computing, organised by the CERN Quantum Technology Initiative and CERN openlab, took place on a weekly basis from 6 November 2020 to 18 December 2020. They were given by Elias Fernandez-Combarro Alvarez, an associate professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Oviedo in Spain since 2009 and a cooperation associate at CERN. The course introduced practical aspects of quantum computing, addressed some of the most recent applications of quantum computing in the fields of optimisation and simulation, as well as covered the implementation of algorithms in quantum simulators and actual quantum computers (such as the ones available through the IBM Quantum Experience and D-Wave Leap).

*The voice-over and subtitles have not been subject to review or edits by CERN and are not official CERN content. The original videos and the links to the exercises mentioned in the course can be retrieved from the seven-event pages linked here: https://indico.cern.ch/event/970903/
